Message from Rachel on Kaden...

For those of you who haven't heard, Kaden Shiloh was born on March 13 at 9:22 a.m. He weighed 7 lbs 4 oz and was 19 and a half inches long. He had problems breathing after he was born so they put him under an oxygen hood which seemed to help for awhile, but he had two episodes where he quit breathing for awhile so the doctors decided to have him transferrred to Joplin by ambulance. After he got to Joplin they ran tests on him and discovered he had transposed arteries in his heart. For more information on that go to https://www.ucsfhealth.org/childrens/medical_services/heart_center/congenital/conditions/trans/signs.html
The doctors at Joplin decided to transfer him to Children's Mercy in Kansas City where they did a procedure to keep a small hole open in the chambers of his heart to allow the blood to mix. The procedure helped him enough that he was able to breathe on this own and is doing much better, but he still has to have heart surgery to correct the transposed arteries which I will be learning more about today. The doctors are planning on doing his surgery friday of this week or monday of next.
We are staying at the Ronald McDonald house near the hospital for however long Kaden will be here. Our address here is Stephen and Rachel StinsonRoom # 306 2501 CherryKansas City, Mo 64108 Rachel's Cell 448-7249 Stephen's Cell 448-4936
