Day 6 - Trip to Garden of the Gods in 1942 by side car

Great Aunt Myrtle writes in her journal  "The Sixth Day June 3 1942"

"There is one thing I can say for Springfield and that is they have one good cafe.  There the food was cooked good.  So with our tummies filled with a good breakfast we started out.  This part of Colorado is too much like western Kansas.  Nothing but plains,  sand and wind.  We travelled Highway 160 to Meade, Ks. and then took 54 to Cunningham where we stayed all night.  We had a swell cabin there but I couldn't  sleep very well.  A bumble bee had stung me during the day.
